Works of Calm: Practices to Restore Energy and Settle the Mind

Dear, Friend; 🌿

If I had to describe my work in one short phrase, I would probably call it works of calm.

Over the years, I’ve come to believe that calm is not simply something we either have or don’t have. It’s something we can support and cultivate through small, steady practices that help soothe tension, settle the mind, and restore energy.

Most of us were never really taught how to work with our inner world in this way.

We learn how to push through.
How to stay busy.
How to keep going.

But not necessarily how to restore our bodies and minds,
and replenish what stress takes away.

That’s the heart of the work I share through Strong Heart.

Some of these works of calm are quiet and still.
Some involve movement.
Some work through the breath.
Some through music and sound.

Different practices support us in different ways.

Breathwork can help when the mind is racing, the body feels tense, or you want to release stress and anxiety. You can change your state relatively quickly.

Music & Sound can work more quietly in the background—supporting relaxation, softening tension, and creating a space to land without requiring effort. Simply close your eyes and listen.

Movement practices like stretching, mobility work, or Qigong help reconnect us with the body, restore energy, and bring vitality to places that feel stagnant or heavy.

And when you bring breath and awareness into the movement, it becomes something more than just physical exercise.

Across all of these practices, there are really just a few simple elements at play:
the breath,
the body,
and our awareness.

Each practice simply meets those in a different way.

And there is no one right way to work with them.

Some people build a regular practice.
Others return to a recording only when needed.
Sometimes simply learning a tool is enough to begin changing how we move through daily life.

All of it counts.

If you’d like to explore a few of these works of calm for yourself, I’ve gathered a collection of guided practices here:
